Wine without sugar by Alan Hubbard

Finally wine lovers can enjoy their favorite beverage without the calories.

A new product has just been launched in Australia - a sugar free wine. Better than sugar free, its also organic, so it must be good for you!

Yandina business woman Laura Adams is the sole distributor of a range of "Ecologico" range of sugar - free wines from Vinos de la Cruz of Uruguay.
This range of boutique wines include a Pinot Noir, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Muscat d'hamburg, and a champagne- style wine, which all come with an affordable price tag of $40 a bottle.

"Being organic and sugar-free, you also have the added benefits of each of these wines having anti-oxidant features, and you can drink a whole bottle and not have a hangover", Laura said.

And while the wines contain no sugar, they don't compromise on alcohol content, which on average is 11%. "The secret is in the brewing process", Laura said. "The grapes actually absorb the sugar, so just the flavour and the"kick"remain.

Laura Adams Vinos de la Cruz

Local wine lovers are in for a sugar-free treat thanks to the recent launch of a new range of sugarless wines from Vinos de la cruz. Yandina local, Laura Adams is the woman behind this successful importing venture. The Ecological range of wines from Vinos de la Cruz has many benefits. Because the yeast of the grapes at the vineyard are in excellent health, when fermented, 100 per cent of the sugar is absorbed, making it a much better choice for diabetics and those that are counting their calories.

Medical researcher and sole distributor for Vinos de la Cruz for Australia and New Zealand, Ms Adams, says it's definitely a first for the Australian wine market.

"There is nothing out there on the market that has an 11 percent alcohol content, which gives an antioxidant effect, helps to reduce blood pressure but is free of preservatives and sugar," says Laura. "It also happens to be the only wine in the world suitable for people that suffer from diabetes."

Cancer Loves Sugar -Sugarless Organic Wine as a preventative

Every doctor learned back in medical school all about Otto Warburg's discovery: a discovery of humongous proportions, because way back in the thirties Otto discovered the main biochemical cause of cancer, or what differentiates a cancer cell from a normal cell, healthy cell. So a big discovery was this, that Otto Warburg was awarded the Nobel Prize.

Cancer has only one prime cause. It is the replacement of normal oxygen respiration of the body's cells by an anaerobic ( ie. oxygen-deficient) cell respiration- Dr Otto Warburg.

But what else does Dr Warburg's discovery tell us. First off, it tells us that cancer metabolizes differently than normal cells. Normal cells need oxygen. Cancer cells despise oxygen. In fact, oxygen therapy is a favourite among many of the alternative clinics we've reseacrhed

Another thing this tells us is that cancer metabolizes through a process of fermentation. If you've ever made wine, you'll know that fermenatation requires sugar. The metabolism of cancer is approximately 8 times greater than the metabolism of normal cells.

Okay, so here is what we can put together knowing the above: The body is constantly overworked trying to feed the cancer. The cancer is constantly on the verge of starvation annd thus constantly asking the body to feed it. When the food supply is cut off, to cancer begins to starve unless it can make the body produce sugar to feed itself.

The wasting syndrome, cachexia, is the body producing sugar from proteins (you heard it right, not from carbohydrates or fats, but from proteins) in a process called glyogenisis. This sugar feeds the cancer. The body finally dies of starvation, trying to feed the cancer.

Not knowing that one's cancer needs sugar, does it make sense to feed it sugar? Does it make sense to have a high carbohydrate diet?

The reason Food therapies for cancer even exist today (beyond the fact that they work) is because someone oncce saw the connection between cancer and sugar. There are many food therapies, but not a single one allows many foods high in carbohydrates and not a single one allows sugars, BECAUSE SUGAR FEEDS CANCER.

Why doesnt your physician tell you this? Hard to tell. Maybe your doctor feels it is his job to cure your cancer, not yours. maybe your doctor learned about Warburg, but never put the rest together, never replaced nutrition into the equation. Maybe because your physician didn't study nutrition. Heck, as late as 1978, thr AMA's official position (found in the Congressional Record) was nutrition had nothing to do with the disease.

However, those who have paid attention to this sugar craving cancer stuff have come ip with some remarkable therapies for cancer. Laetrile is just one. Hydrazile Sulfate, which stops the process of glycogenis is greater than 50% of all patients with cachexia is another.

Today at the University of Minnesota, they are experimenting with a chemotherapy in a smart bomb. Heres the scoop: the drug is wrapped in a coating in a coating that stays inact as it travels through the body, that until it reaches a location of no oxygen. When it reaches this no oxygen location, the coating falls apart releasing the chemotherapy to destroy the cancer, because the only place in your body where there is no oxygen is the cancer site.

That there are food therapies aimed at starving cancer. Knowing what cancer loves, the cancer patient avoids them. Cancer likes cooked foods over raw (cooking destroys enzymes and heat sensitive vitamins) so check our article on the cancer diet. And, do not forget cancer loves sugar. If you dislike your cancer, then do not feed it.

Brisbane Property and Lifestyle Magazine pg 6

The benefits of drinking wine in moderation are well known, from lowering the risk of heart disease to preventing cancer, but did you know that its the way its produced that makes all the difference to our health?
Think green! Thats right, the buzz word on the lips of wine aficionados is organic.
It makes sense too; organic foods and consumer products are becoming one of the fastest growing markets in the world, so why should wine be the exception?
So what is exactly the difference between conventional and organic wines? The secret lies in the treatment of the grapes. Harvested without the use of chemical fertilizers, the emphasis on organic farming of grapes is maintaining healthy biological-active soil. In the vineyard it means cultivating the soil and using cover crops instead of herbicides and natural fertilizers like manure instead of artificial ones.
The methods used to date back to centuries ago.Its not surprising there is evidence to suggest that the absence of chemicals in organic wine reduces the dreaded headaches that are often associated with drinking conventional wines. And it goes without saying the fewer chemicals we ingest the better for our health in general.
But there are even further benefits to drinking organic wine. Because the yeast of the grapes are in good health, when fermented, 100 percent of the sugar is absorbed making it a much better choice for diabetics and those who are counting calories.
Australian wine lovers are in for a treat thanks to the much anticipated launch of a new range of organic, sugarless wines from Vinos de la Cruz, set to hit the shelves just in time for Christmas celebrations. Produced in Uruguay, it is the first country in Latin America which produced a certified organic, sugarless wine suitable for diabetics.
An eighteenth century winery, Vinos de la Cruz is the most ancient of its kind in Uruguay. The wine is fermented in Nancy Oak barrels imported from France. The key of the process at Vinos de la Cruz is the chicken manure, very rich in phosphorus and nitrogen, mixed with cattle manure and vegetable remains.
The white part of the chicken compost is pure nitrogen. 20,000kgs is spread of 27 hectares of vineyard and this organic matter improves the soil.
Medical researcher and sole distributor of Vinos de la Cruz for Australia and New Zealand Ms Laura Adams says it’s definitely a first for the Australian wine market.
There is nothing out there on the market that has an 11% alcohol content, which gives an antioxidant effect, helps reduce blood pressure but is free of preservatives and sugar, says Laura.
It also happens to be the only wine in the world that is certified suitable for people who suffer from diabetes.
In this day and age people want to stay healthier, live longer and enjoy quality of lifestyle. That’s what makes the Vinos de la Cruz wine range a bit of an enigma.
The Vinos de la Cruz range of wines includes: Malbec, Pinot noir, Muscat dhamburg, Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot and Arriloba. The winery has also launched the worlds first sugar free sparkling wine, which will all be available in Australia as part of the Vinos de la Cruz range.

World Diabetes Day is on the 14th November 2008. This years theme is childhood and juvenile diabetes. For more information in World Diabetes Events visit the website at: http://www.worlddiabetesday.org/.

Brisbane News -Food Table Talk- Sweeter Soil. 12-18 Nov 2008 pg 23

When I was in Umbria in September, our Italian guide (Living Italy Tours} assured me that the local wine would not induce headaches the morning after. I regarded this with suspicion, as in my experience, enough of anything will make me crook, While I didn't set out to disprove by downing Len Evans-sized buckets. I did wake up bright as a button after three to four of the average glasses with dinner. The reason lies in how the wine is made, with little intervention and a few preservatives in the case of the Montefalco red. Tannins too are not as powerful as in many Aussie reds. In the interests of drinking smarter, I've found a producer in Uruguay that makes wine that is organic and contains no added sugar. Without the chemicals-and calorie overload-in your average plonk. Vinos de la Cruz is being touted as a godesend for diabetics and dieters. The quality of the soil, improved due to a mixture of chicken and cattle manure and vegetable matter, is said to produce outstanding fruit. The wine will be released here soon. www.sugarlessorganicwine.com.au
